Astaxanthin is powerful antioxidant which can support over all body health and is a very important nutrient for eye health support. However, astaxanthin is a fat-soluble antioxidant, meaning that its absorption can be low. To address this problem, Life Extension have blended 4 mg of natural astaxanthin with a proprietary blend of 80 mg of four phospholipids in its Astaxanthin with Phospholipids formula to facilitate maximum absorption of astaxanthin into the bloodstream.

The science behind the product

Astaxanthin is a red pigment molecule that is a member of the carotenoid family found in certain marine algae]. New research has revealed that astaxanthin plays a role in joint optimization, immune [2-4], brain [5-9], cardiovascular [10-17], DNA [6,18,19] and mitochondrial health [20-24].

Research has also demonstrated that astaxanthin can help promote healthy blood sugar levels for people who are in the normal range [25-27]. This formulation is designed to enhance astaxanthin absorption by several fold[28].

Astaxanthin also promotes the activity of white blood cells (lymphocytes) and natural killer cells (NK) that play a role in the innate immune system [29-31]. Additionally, astaxanthin plays a role in fighting aging, protects heart muscle and supports eye health [32,33].

Dosage

Suggested daily intake is one (1) softgel once or twice, with or without food, or as directed by a medical practitioner.
