Quercetin is a natural bio-flavonoid and has a long tradition of being used for inhibiting the effects of seasonal immune challenges and supporting the immune system and promoting a healthy inflammatory response.

It also promotes both cardiovascular and endothelial health. Furthermore, it also helps maintain healthy blood pressure already within the normal range [6-11]. This compound is also a potent inhibitor of oxidative stress and helps promote a healthy inflammatory response [4,5].

The unique Bio-Quercetin formula from Life Extension® contains a form of this compound that has been integrated into a phytosome. Phytosomes are made from phospholipids, which is the same material that cell membranes are made of. When encapsulated in a phytosome, it can cross the cell membrane and be delivered directly inside the cell.

By combining this compound with a unique phospholipid-based delivery system, the quercetin in this formula is more bioavailable [1]. This makes it easier to absorb and more easily utilized by your body.

Quercetin has been studied intensely. In a randomized clinical trial, supplementation with this compound encouraged a healthy immune response in physically fit older adults [2]. Another randomized controlled trial found similar results in trained athletes [3].

And in double-blind clinical trials, it promoted a healthy inflammatory response, reduced oxidative stress, and helped maintain overall health [4, 5].

Moreover, in a randomized clinical study, researchers compared two orally administered phytosome doses of it (providing 100 mg and 200 mg of quercetin), along with one 500 mg dose of this compound.

They found that when delivered in phytosomes, this compound could be administered at one-fifth the dosage of the traditional quercetin and still result in exposure 10 times greater. This means that the phytosome delivery of this compound provides about 50 times greater bioavailability when compared to standard products [1].
