Happy Go Liver is a food supplement that consists of Selenium, Inositol, Choline, Alpha lipoic acid and herbal extracts of Milk thistle, Dandelion, Artichoke, Boldo and Pine. Choline contributes to the synthesis of cellular components, while Inositol participates in basic biological processes of the human body. Selenium helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Milk thistle, Dandelion and Boldo extracts contribute to the normal functioning of the liver. In addition, Dandelion and Artichoke extracts contribute to the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and to normal digestion.

Choline is an important nutrient for the synthesis of neurotransmitters, phospholipids and other necessary cell components, while its low concertation in human body could possibly cause damage of liver, muscles and reduced cognitive function. Another important compound is inositol, which takes part in basic biological processes contributing to the synthesis of structural lipids and other secondary messenger compounds and metabolites, that play important role in the physiological functions of the body. Selenium is an essential trace element providing anti-oxidant and immune functions and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Moreover, there are evidences that selenium improves mood. Another anti-oxidant compound is the α-lipoic acid or as well-known ALA, which has several functions such as its involvement in glucose and lipid metabolism and in energy production. Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is a herb rich in flavonolignans, that are natural phenols well known as silymarin. Silymarin has anti-inflammatory and immune-modulatory action with hepatoprotective effects.  Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a herb with a long history as a medical plant due to the bioactive compounds of its extract and mainly due to its use for the relief of the symptoms of liver and spleen diseases. Except dandelion’s anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and analgetic action, it is considered to have several biological activities, while it is considered to be a potential diuretic agent. Moreover, it contributes to the protection of the gastrointestinal tract, improving the clinical symptoms and the inflammatory response of intestinal diseases (such as colitis). Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) is a well-known plant in the Mediterranean region, with the extract of its leaves to be a really promising medical agent, because it improves the intestinal transit, enhances the intestinal health, contributes to the decrease of cholesterol, enhances the lipids metabolism with parallel reduction of triglycerides, contributes to the glycemic control with hypoglycemic action, it has hepatoprotective effects, while it improves liver’s metabolism. Boldo (Peumus boldus) is a native tree of Chile and its extract is a traditional herbal medicinal product mainly used for the relief of dyspepsia symptoms and the treatment of mild gastrointestinal disorders. Boldine is an alkaloid compound, which is abundant in Boldo. Boldine ameliorates the endothelial dysfunction and the effects of the oxidative stress and as a result it is considered to be a good potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of chronic diseases.
